Cat Album #17 – Open Doors, Clear Boundaries, and a Calmer Day After

Yesterday there was more going on than it seemed at first glance.

I was over there several times.
At the farmer’s.
At his wife’s.
We ate pelmeni.
In between, I got things done.
Laptop with me.
A bit of internet.

No clear sequence.
Everything fit together.

And somewhere in between,
the door wasn’t quite closed.

Adi and Minna are allowed outside.
They know this.
They go along into the barn.
They move safely around the property.

Yesterday, though, they set out deliberately.

They were searching.

Which means:
Minna probably wasn’t looking for me.

She’s in heat.
And that explains a lot.

She knows that old red tomcat.
By sight.
He belongs there.
He’s there.
And he’s not friendly.

Minna is open about such things.
Curious.
Very direct.

Adi, on the other hand, isn’t.

Adi has a problem with that tomcat.
Has for a while.
Territory, maybe.
Or just plain antipathy.
Adi is big.
And not very diplomatic.

When they met,
there was tension immediately.

The red tomcat arched his back.
Stared.
Adi stood there,
as he always does:
too big,
too close,
and even a little overwhelmed by the situation himself.

It could have tipped over.

But it didn’t.

I was there.
I intervened.
Separated them,
took both of them with me,
and brought them back over.

After that, it was clear:
That was it for yesterday.

Today they weren’t allowed out at all.

No discussion.
No open doors.
No risk.

And today itself?

Today was calm.

Almost conspicuously calm.

Minna is still awake,
but less driven.
Adi is lying down a lot.
Watching.
Slowly relaxing again.

Yesterday was the limit.
Today is a pause.

Sometimes that’s exactly
what it takes.

In addition to this post, a separate video statement was publishedthat visually documents the described daily routine and provides additional impressions.

🐱 Cat stuff I can genuinely recommend (tested by Adi & Minna)

✅ 1) Cat scratching tree / climbing tree

Adi is heavy—so the thing has to be sturdy.
Look for: thick sisal posts, a wide base plate,, no wobbling..

➡️ Scratching tree (sturdy & large): (https://amzn.to/4sUbln1)

✅ 2) Cat food – preferably grain-free

Grain-free is often the better choice, since many cats react sensitively to fillers. And: it’s perfect for indoor cats that don’t “hunt outside on the side.”

➡️ Grain-free cat food: (https://amzn.to/4a8sPV7)

✅ 3) Litter box + litter

If it’s supposed to stay clean, you need two things:

  • a good litter box (preferably large)
  • clumping litterthat binds odors

➡️ Litter box (large & practical): (https://amzn.to/45rypQ1)
➡️ Clumping litter / odor control: (https://amzn.to/45prtTn)

💬 And you? When it’s –15 degrees outside—what’s your lifesaver: a blanket, tea, or a cat? 🖤
