Cat Album #18 – Computer Work, Minna in Heat, and Why Some Doors Stay Closed

Today is not a day for big journeys.
No farmer.
No pelmeni.

Today is computer work.

I sit a lot.
When I’m not in the barn,
I’m translating.

By hand.
Sentence by sentence.
Slowly.

No auto button.
No “one click.”

That’s better this way.
For Google.
And for the text.

For the cats,
it’s more… tedious.

Adi and Minna notice immediately.
Stillness.
Concentration.
No movement.

They circle around my legs.
Again and again.

Minna especially.

She’s still in heat.
And it’s not subtle.

She wants closeness.
Affection.
Physical contact.

She rubs herself.
Purrs.
Rolls around on the bed
like there’s no tomorrow.

Adi?

Adi is 13.
Neutered.
Solid.
And emotionally not involved in the matter.

She can do
whatever she wants.

He watches.
Or keeps sleeping.

No interest.
No drama.

The farmer’s red tom
is not coming in here.

A very clear boundary.

I have no nerve
to turn into a crazy cat lady.

Not now.
Not here.

Yes, the kittens wouldn’t be a problem.
But winter would.

It’s cold here.
Really cold.

In Germany it was different.
Milder.
More reliable.

I won’t put Minna through two months of pregnancy under these conditions.

So:
Door closed.
Period.

Luckily, they’re cats
and not dogs.

With dogs,
you can’t even count to three.
They’re already on each other.

Here it stays at meowing,
purring,
and patience.

I keep working.
I keep translating.

And at some point—no, Now I’ll link it for you.
Now
.

Manual work.
Quiet.
No shortcuts.

Minna will be back.
For sure.

To be continued. 🐾🖤

A A supplementary video statement on this situation was published separately. and documents the described circumstances from a visual perspective.

🐱 Cat stuff I can genuinely recommend (tested by Adi & Minna)

✅ 1) Cat scratching tree / climbing tree

Adi is heavy—so the thing has to be sturdy.
Look for: thick sisal posts, a wide base plate,, no wobbling..

➡️ Scratching tree (sturdy & large): (https://amzn.to/4sUbln1)

✅ 2) Cat food – preferably grain-free

Grain-free is often the better choice, since many cats react sensitively to fillers. And: it’s perfect for indoor cats that don’t “hunt outside on the side.”

➡️ Grain-free cat food: (https://amzn.to/4a8sPV7)

✅ 3) Litter box + litter

If it’s supposed to stay clean, you need two things:

  • a good litter box (preferably large)
  • clumping litterthat binds odors

➡️ Litter box (large & practical): (https://amzn.to/45rypQ1)
➡️ Clumping litter / odor control: (https://amzn.to/45prtTn)

💬 And you? When it’s –15 degrees outside—what’s your lifesaver: a blanket, tea, or a cat? 🖤
