Nineteen seventy-one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Germany continues to live in the dual reality of East and West. In Bonn, the new Ostpolitik is being deepened, while in East Berlin, international recognition of the GDR is being advanced. The Four-Power Agreement on Berlin emerges from years of tension and the shared interest in not allowing the city to once again become a focal point of escalation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Between Washington and Moscow, concrete steps toward arms limitation begin. The talks on strategic weapons show that deterrence and dialogue can coexist. At the same time, the nuclear balance remains fragile, sustained by mistrust, security thinking, and the pursuit of global influence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Internationally, the balance of power is visibly shifting. The People\u2019s Republic of China receives its seat in the United Nations, thereby reshaping the diplomatic architecture of the world. In South Asia, the conflict between India and Pakistan leads to the creation of Bangladesh, a war that emerges from colonial border demarcations, internal tensions, and regional power interests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Internationally, the balance of power is visibly shifting. The People\u2019s Republic of China receives its seat in the United Nations, thereby reshaping the diplomatic architecture of the world. Nineteen seventy-one is not a year of a big bang, but a year of gradual shifts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
